ScenoLight Atelier – Architectural & Experience Lighting

Hyatt Place Ha Long

Nestled in the heart of Ha Long, with the natural backdrop of the iconic Bay, the lighting design of this brand new Hyatt Place hotel is a seamless extension of its architectural narrative—sophisticated, tranquil, and evocative of the serene rhythms of the sea. Every lighting element is intentionally crafted and integrated to highlight the form, materiality, and detail of the building, while also fostering a refined and calming guest experience.

Architectural Integration and Brand Expression

The lighting strategy draws inspiration from the fluidity of Ha Long Bay itself. Soft washes of light gently graze textured stone walls, timber finishes, and architectural contours, accentuating their craftsmanship without overpowering the space. Custom recessed and concealed luminaires ensure a visually clean environment, where light becomes a material—subtle yet expressive.

In both public and private areas, the lighting supports the brand identity: understated luxury with a deep connection to nature. The color temperature palette is kept warm (2700K–3000K), echoing the comfort of a coastal retreat while maintaining a polished, contemporary feel. Accent lighting is used to draw attention to curated artworks and local design features, reinforcing the hotel’s cultural narrative.

Curated Atmospheres: Day-to-Night Transitions

A central lighting control system allows the creation of dynamic scenes that shift fluidly from day to night. During the day, lighting supplements natural daylight, enhancing openness and clarity. As the sun sets over the Bay, the system transitions gradually to more intimate, lower-intensity scenes—providing a sense of relaxation and rhythm aligned with the natural environment.

Outdoor lighting responds to both functionality and ambiance, using low-glare fixtures and coastal-grade materials to preserve sightlines to the landscape while avoiding visual pollution. Pathways are softly lit, and key architectural features are accentuated without harsh contrast, creating a gentle connection between the built environment and the surrounding natural beauty.

Guest Comfort and Well-being

In guest rooms, layered lighting offers full control to support different moods—from energizing morning rituals to calming evening wind-downs. Indirect lighting behind headboards, dimmable task lighting at desks, and discreet night lighting in bathrooms all contribute to a sense of quiet luxury. User-friendly interfaces ensure intuitive interaction with the lighting, removing friction from the guest experience.

Sustainability and Durability

Sustainability is embedded in the design process. All fixtures utilize high-efficiency LED technology, selected for longevity, color consistency, and low energy consumption. Lighting controls—occupancy sensors, daylight harvesting, and scheduling—are programmed to reduce unnecessary use, minimizing both environmental impact and operational costs. Fixtures are chosen for their durability in Vietnam’s coastal climate, with IP-rated, corrosion-resistant finishes for all exterior and semi-exposed locations. The system is designed with ease of maintenance in mind, with accessible components and centralized controls to support staff efficiency and reduce downtime.
